Mild heat wave may continue till Thursday

A mild heat wave is sweeping over five divisions and different regions in the country and it may continue until Thursday, according to an official at Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

Talking to The Financial Express, Abdul Mannan, a BMD meteorologist, said a mild heat wave is sweeping over Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and the regions of Rajshahi, Pabna and Nilphamari, and it may continue until Thursday.

During the period, there is no possibility of rain in the country, the BMD meteorologist said.

The highest temperature was recorded 38.5 degrees Celsius at Sitakunda on Monday while the minimum temperature was 16.4 degrees Celsius at Sreemangal, he added.

The BMD in its weather forecast this morning said weather may remain dry with a temporary partly cloudy sky over the country.

In its 24-hour forecast, the Met Office said day and night temperature may rise slightly over the country.

A trough of low lies over West Bengal and adjoining area, it said, adding that seasonal low lies over South Bay.

The sun sets at 6:11 pm on Tuesday and rises at 5:58 am on Wednesday in Dhaka.
