Mild cold wave likely to go by tomorrow: Met Office

A mild cold wave sweeping over some parts of the country is likely to go by Wednesday morning, according to an official at Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

Chuadanga, Kurigram, Panchagarh, Rajshahi, Pabna and Moulvibazar are now experiencing a mild cold wave, Abdul Mannan, a BMD meteorologist, told The Financial Express on Tuesday.

And it may abate at some places of these districts, he adds.

Temperature decreased 1-2 degree Celsius today (Tuesday), the meteorologist said, forecasting a gradual rise in temperature from Wednesday onwards.

The Met Office has recorded the day's lowest temperature at 8.7 degree Celsius in Tentulia.

In its 24-hour forecast, it said weather may remain dry with temporary partly cloudy sky over the country.

Light to moderate fog may occur at places over the country during late night to morning, according to the forecast.

In its next 72-hour forecast, the Met Office said night temperature may rise gradually.

Ridge of Sub-continental high extends up to West Bengal and adjoining area, it said adding that seasonal low lies over South Bay.

The sun sets at 5:50 pm on Tuesday, according to the forecast, while it rises at 6:35 am on Wednesday in Dhaka.
