Met office says heatwave likely to continue until Wednesday

The ongoing heatwave is likely to continue in different parts of the country, including Dhaka, for the next several days until Wednesday, a met official has said.

The official also hinted that light to moderate rainfall may occur in different parts of the country from Wednesday.

A Met office bulletin issued this morning said, a mild heatwave is sweeping over Khulna and Barishal divisions and the districts of Dhaka, Tangail, Faridpur, Gopalgonj, Rangamati, Feni, Chandpur, Sylhet, Pabna, Rajshahi, Bogura and the upazilas of Sandwip & Sitakunda and it may continue.

The low-pressure area over Southeast Bay and adjoining Equatorial Indian Ocean intensified into a well-marked low and lies over Southeast Bay & adjoining south Andaman Sea, it said, adding that it is likely to intensify further into a Depression and move in a north-northeasterly direction. Trough of westerly low lies over Bihar and adjoining areas.

The weather may remain dry over the country, as per the bulletin.

Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country, it added.
