Met office says cold waves likely in late December

One or two cold waves might sweep through the country's northern, north-eastern and central parts this month, the Met office said in its monthly report.

The report said the cold waves might be within the range of 6.0-10 degree Celsius and is likely to hit the later parts of this month.

The met office climate outlook also added that there is no possibility of cyclone or of heavy rain during the period.

On the other hand, mercury continued to decline in Dhaka and elsewhere in the country notably on Friday amid existing cloudy sky and fog.

Dhaka's minimum temperature was recorded at 17.6 degrees Celsius while the country's lowest temp was measured as 14.3 degrees in Sitakunda until 6.00 pm on Friday.

Met office said the weather might remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky over the country on Saturday. 

Moderate to thick fog might also occur over the river basins of the country.

It said light to moderate fog might also occur elsewhere over the country from midnight to afternoon in the next twenty-four hours starting from Friday evening.
