Met office forecasts rain in 24 hours

Several places in the country, including Dhaka, are likely to witness rain commencing from 9:00am in the next 24 hours, the Met Office said in a forecast.

Moderately heavy to heavy rainfall is likely to occur at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said in the forecast on Sunday.

Apart from this, rain may occur at one or two places over Rajshahi, Dhaka and Chattogram divisions with hails at isolated places, the BMD said in the forecast.

Moderately heavy is termed as 23-43 millimetre (mm) a day while heavy rainfall is between 44-88mm a day, according to the met office explanation.

In its outlook for the next 72-hour, it said rain/thunder shower is likely to continue.

Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country, it said, adding that day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Trough of westerly low lies over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and adjoining area, it said, adding that seasonal low lies over South Bay.
