Mercury dips to 6.8 degrees Celsius in Tetulia

A mild to moderate cold wave is sweeping over 12 districts and two divisions which may continue until next 24 hours beginning on Sunday morning, according to a met office bulletin.

The bulletin, prepared by Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), said a mild to moderate cold wave is sweeping over Tangail, Gopalgonj, Faridpur, Madaripur, Rangamati, Feni, Moulvibazer, Jashore, Kushtia, Chuadanga, Barishal and Bhola and upazila of Sitakunda, and two divisions -- Rangpur and Rajshahi.  The cold wave may continue.

Bangladesh has been witnessing the cold weather for the last few days.

People, especially in the northern parts including Lalmonirhat, Panchagarh and Kurigram districts  have been suffering a lot after the mercury dropped drastically.

Lowest temperature, 6.8 degrees Celsius, was recorded in Tetulia on Sunday morning while temperature 13 degrees Celsius fell in Dhaka, according to the BMD bulletin.

Weather may remain dry with temporary partly cloudy sky over the country, as per the bulletin valid for 24 hours commencing at 9:00am am today (Sunday).

Moderate to thick fog may occur over north-western part and river- basins and light to moderate fog may occur elsewhere over the country during midnight to morning, it said.

Ridge of Sub-continental high extends up to West Bengal and adjoining western part of Bangladesh, it said, adding that seasonal low lies over South Bay.

Night and day temperatures may rise slightly over the country, it said.
