The government will sit with bus owners today (Tuesday) aimed at stopping the recurrence of fatal road accidents across the country, an official said.
Sources said the meeting is expected to make some key decisions in order to prevent needless road accidents.
Meanwhile, shipping minister Shajahan Khan told the media on Monday that the persons responsible for incidents must be punished.
About the agitating students' demand for his resignation, Mr Khan said, "Will all the problems be solved if I resign?"
"I do believe that the problems could be resolved even holding this [ministerial] post," he mentioned.
Mr Khan said he used to smile all times. Nobody ever saw his dismal face. "Is it my fault?" he queried.
"I was not supposed to seek an apology for this incident. However, I express my sorrow," he uttered.
"Initially, it came to our knowledge that the bus driver did make a wrong. Those responsible will be brought to book after investigation."
The minister conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved family members of the deceased students.
"I request the victims' brothers and sisters to remain cool; don't be unruly. Those responsible for this incident will be punished," he said.
Mr Khan said, "I know some drivers are used to drive minibuses recklessly. We'll take action to this end."
In reply to a query, he said, "My family has been involved in the transport business since 1962. But I don't know who the owner of which bus is".
Mr Khan said his brother-in-law was a director of Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan five years ago.
A bus of the company ploughed through some students in front of Kurmitola General Hospital on Sunday.
It claimed the lives of two students, Diya Khanam Mim and Abdul Karim Rajib, of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment School and College.
Meanwhile, agitators withdrew the block around 4:00pm on Monday following assurances from the administration to resolve the problem.
They put up a barricade on Airport Road in the morning to protest the death of their two fellows.
Rapid Action Battalion on Monday arrested two bus drivers and their assistants.
