A medical panel will meet on Tuesday afternoon to review the health of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, who has been diagnosed with Covid-19, and is receiving treatment at the CCU of Evercare Hospital, bdnews24.com reports.

"Madam is in better condition. A medical panel of 10 doctors will review all of her medical test reports this afternoon," Prof AZM Zahid Hossain said after visiting Khaleda at the hospital on Tuesday.

‘‘We can release more details afterwards.”

Khaleda was transferred to the CCU from a cabin at the hospital after she complained of breathing difficulties on Monday morning.

She is now receiving treatment under the supervision of cardiologist Dr Shahabuddin Talukder.

Khaleda was admitted to the hospital on April 27. The following day a medical panel, including FM Siddiqui, AZM Zahid Hossain and Dr Mohammad Al Mamun from her personal team of doctors, was formed to oversee her treatment.

On April 11, Khaleda tested positive for the coronavirus. She began her treatment, supervised by her personal physician Dr FM Siddiqui, at her home in Gulshan. She took another coronavirus test after 14 days and tested positive again.

The 76-year-old former prime minister has been convicted in two graft cases and was taken to jail three years ago.

In April 2020, in the light of the Covid pandemic, the government granted a request from her family for a conditional temporary release from jail.

She has since stayed at her Gulshan home under the care of her personal doctors and has had limited interaction with others.
