Bangladesh does not approve of meddling in its internal affairs by foreign diplomats, Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen has said.
“As development partners, they naturally have interest in our election process but we do not want their interference in this matter,” he said while talking to journalists at his office recently. “If we have any problem, we should try to resolve it internally instead of making complaints to outsiders.”
Asked whether the government intends to discuss election issues with foreigners, he said that the foreign ministry is in constant touch with the diplomats but it does not expect any inference from them.
Momen also informed that he would discuss multiple issues regarding bilateral ties with his Indian counterpart Harsh Vardhan Shringla at Indo-Bangladesh bilateral talks to be held in New Delhi on February 24.
