Economic Advisor to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Dr. Mashiur Rahman on Thursday said the BBS is a "midget" organisation as it is not upgrading.
Criticizing BBS, Mr Rahman said it is not possible to have quality statistics only through the mathematical calculations.
"If the quality of statistics is not ensured, the country's development and achieving SDG target will be more difficult," he said while speaking at a seminar organized by Planning Division on "Rebasing and revision of GDP: Bangladesh perspective" at the Planning Commission in the city.
Dr Mirza Azizul Islam, Dr Farashudsin Ahmed, Dr Selim Raihan were also critical on BBS statistics.
