Maritime ports of country asked to keep hoisting local cautionary signal 3

Maritime ports of Bangladesh have been advised to keep hoisting local cautionary signal No. 3 (three) as the low has intensified into a well-marked low over coastal Andhra Pradesh & adjoining Odisha.

A well-marked low under its influence steep pressure gradient persists over the north bay and the adjoining areas, according to a special bulletin issued by Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Tuesday.

Squally weather may affect the maritime ports, north bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.

All the fishing boats and trawlers over north bay have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice, the BMD bulletin added.

Meanwhile, in another 24-hour bulletin, BMD said light to heavy rainfall is expected to occur in most parts of the country including the capital Dhaka in the 24 hours starting from Tuesday morning.

Light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Khulna, Barishal & Chattogram divisions, it says.

Apart from this, light to moderate rainfall is also likely to occur at many places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka & Sylhet divisions.

Some places in different parts of the country are expected to see moderately heavy to heavy falls, it said.

The axis of the monsoon trough runs through Rajsthan, Madhya Pradesh, the Centre of the well-marked low, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal to Assam across Southern part of Bangladesh, as per the BMD.

Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay, the BMD forecast states.

Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, the met office added.
