Maritime ports hoist signal 2 for cyclone Pabuk

Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted distant warning signal no 2 as the cyclonic storm 'Pabuk' over the Andaman sea and adjoining areas moved northwestwards.

The cyclone was centred on 06:00am Sunday at about 1330km Southeast of Chattogram port, 1240km Southeast of Cox's Bazar port, 1445km Southeast of Mongla port and 1365km Southeast of Payra port.

It is likely to move in a north/northwesterly direction further, according to a Met office bulletin.

Maximum sustained wind speed within 54kms of the cyclone centre is about 62kph rising to 88kph in gusts or squalls. Sea will remain very rough near the cyclone centre, UNB reports.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.

They are also advised not to venture deep into the sea.
