Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal no three as the well marked low over West Central Bay and adjoining area intensified into a depression over the same area.

It was centred at 9:00am on Thursday about 865 kms Southwest of Chittagong port, 820 kms Southwest of Cox's Bazar port, 745 kms South/Southwest of Mongla port and 740 kms South/Southwest of Payra port.

It is likely to intensify further and move in a North/North Westerly direction, said a special bulletin of Met office on Thursday, reports UNB.

Maximum sustained wind speed within 44 kms of the depression centre is about 40 kph rising to 50 kph in gusts/squalls. Sea will remain moderate near the depression centre.

All fishing boat and trawler over North Bay and deep sea have been told to come close to the coast and proceed with caution. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.
