Man arrested for death threat against Shakib Al Hasan on Facebook

A young man, who threatened to kill all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan on Facebook, was arrested by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) from Maigon in South Sunamganj on Tuesday.

The arrestee was identified as Mohsin Talukdar, 25, son of Azad Baksh of Shahpur Talukdarpara in Jalalabad area, reports UNB.

A joint team of RAB-9 and police conducted a drive in the area and arrested Mohsin in the morning after being tipped-off about his location, said Ashraf Ullah Taher, deputy police commissioner (media) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police.

He was later handed over to Jalalabad Police Station.

On Monday, Sub-Inspector Mahbub Morshed filed a case under the Digital Security Act against Mohsin for issuing death threat to Shakib.

According to the case statement, Mohsin appeared on a Facebook live where he showed a machete and threatened to chop Shakib into pieces.

Mohsin issued the threat as the star's decision to go to Kolkata for attending Kali Puja angered him.

In his Facebook live, Mohsin said he would go to Dhaka on foot and kill the cricketer, if needed.

In the evening, Mohsin again went live on Facebook and apologised for threatening Shakib and advised the cricketer to apologise to the nation.
