Main accused in gang-rape case dies in 'shootout'

Police recovered the body of a rape suspect from Anwara Economic Zone in Chattogram early Sunday.

Abdun Nur, 25, was the main accused in a case filed over the gang-rape of a teenage factory worker.

Police claimed that Nur died in a 'gunfight' between two gangs of criminals on Saturday night, reports UNB.

The 15-year-old girl was gang-raped allegedly by the driver and passengers of an auto-rickshaw while she was returning home from her factory in the Korean Export Processing Zone on Wednesday.

She lost consciousness during her ordeal and was dumped to the street at Chatri Chowmuhuni at around 8:00pm by the rapists.

Later, locals rescued the girl in a critical state and took her to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

Police arrested two people, including auto-rickshaw driver Md Mamun, from Karnaphuli area in the city on Saturday over the rape incident.
