The local administration imposed section 144 at Kumarkhali upazila as Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal(Jasad) --called their meetings at the same venue and time on Saturday.
Md Sahinuzzaman, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Kumarkhali, imposed the restriction from 11 am to 10 pm to prevent any untoward situation.
Apprehending a trouble, the local administration has imposed the emergency section to maintain law and order situation, the UNO said.
Local Jasad leaders called a demonstration at Gorai Complex Auditorium in protest against a clash between the activists of the two parties that left a UP member and Jasad supporter --Abdur Rahim Sheikh -- critically injured, he said.
UNB said BCL activists also announced to hold a meeting marking the success of the ruling party at the same place and time.
Additional police have also been deployed at different points of the town.
