Life jackets distributed among fishing boat skippers in Cox's Bazar

180 life jackets were distributed among the fishermen (skippers) in Cox's Bazar to save them from any drowning incidents on Tuesday in the conference room of the district fisheries officer, says a press release.

SM Mohib Ullah, deputy director of Department of Fisheries (Chattogram ivision) distributed the life jackets while SM Khalequzzaman District Fisheries Officer of Cox’s Bazar presided over the programme.

Among others, Zia Haider Chowdhury, project director, Hilsa Development and Management Project, Tarapada Chowhan, senior upazila fisheries officer of Sadar, and Dr Md Nahiduzzaman, a scientist of the ECOFISH-II project of WorldFish Bangladesh, were present.

On the occasion, fishermen were shown how to use life-jackets properly.

These life jackets were distributed under the ECOFISH-II activity jointly implemented by the Department of Fisheries and WorldFish Bangladesh with the funding of the USAID.

Life jackets were also distributed among fishermen in Ukhia, Teknaf and Moheshkhali upazilas.
