The by-election to Dhaka-5 constituency has been progressing with a low turnout of voters.

The FE correspondents have visited a number of polling stations under the constituency since the morning.

They found that less than 10 per cent of voters exercised their voting rights on average till 1:00pm on Saturday.

Fazlul Hoque, the presiding officer of Dhalpur polling centre, told The FE that the presence of voters in his centre was quite low in the first half.

"We're expecting more voters in the second half as many people are expected to come after finishing their daily works," he said.

However, The FE correspondents did not find any polling agents of the opposition candidates except at one voting room in Jatrabari Ideal School and College.

A total of six candidates are contesting the by-election to the Dhaka-5 constituency that fell vacant due to death of ruling party lawmaker HabiburRahmanMollah on May 06, 2020.
