Legal notice seeks compensation for victims

A legal notice has been sent on Sunday to the concerned government bodies asking them to give Tk 1.0 million as compensation to each of the families which have been victimised by receiving fake Covid-19 certificates from Regent Hospital.

Besides, the notice also asked the respondents to publish a list of the persons who had been cheated by Regent Hospital while testing for the Covid-19 virus.

Barrister Abdul Halim, a Supreme Court lawyer, on behalf of the director of Children's Charity Bangladesh Foundation (CCB Foundation), a rights organisation, sent the notice through emails to health secretary, home secretary, director general of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) and chairman and managing director of Regent Hospital.

The notice sender also urged the concerned government respondents to publish a list of the names of the hospitals and diagnostic centres that have legal licences to conduct Covid-19 tests.

It also said appropriate legal action will be taken against the respondents if they do not take necessary measures to comply with the requirements mentioned in the legal notice within 48 hours.
