Lawmen detain three more for ‘spreading rumours’ on FB

Law enforcers have detained three more people from the capital for allegedly trying to create unrest by spreading rumours on social media to instigate the recent student protest.

The detainees were identified as Touhidul Islam Tusar, 24, son of Abdur Razzak, Md Waliullah, 28, son of Saiful Islam and Md Ehasanuddin Ifas, 18, son of Nurul Alam.

A cyber-crime prevention team conducted separates drives from Tuesday night to Wednesday morning in different areas and arrested them, said ADC Nazmul Islam of Cyber Crime Unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

The team also recovered mobile phones, laptops, memory cards and seized their Facebook identity for allegedly spreading rumour on social media, reports UNB.

A case was filed with Romna Police Station accusing the trio of this connection.

The actual intention of spreading rumours on facebook would be cleared after interrogation, the official added.
