Lalbagh factory fire: Probe body formed

An investigation committee was formed on Thursday to look into Wednesday night’s fire at a polythene factory in Lalbagh area of Dhaka city.

The three-member committee has been asked to submit its report within seven working days, said Fire Service’s Warehouse Inspector Atiqul Alam.

Fire Service and Civil Defence’s Deputy Director (Operation) Dilip Ghosh is heading the committee.

The other members are — Assistant Commissioner (Operation) Abdul Halim and Deputy Director (Posta zone) Newton Das, reports UNB.

A fire broke out at a polythene factory on Water Works Road in Posta area just after 10:30pm on Wednesday.

Sixteen fire-fighting units brought the fire under control around 1:00am but it took them another three hours to extinguish the blaze.

The cause of the fire and extent of damage could not be known yet.
