A ‘Krishi Utshab’ was launched in Khulna and Jashore recently, aimed at  addressing the growing needs and challenges that farmers facing.

NeoSTAR Innovation in association with Solidaridad Network, Unilever Bangladesh, Metal, Lal Teer, Ispahani Group, Agrani Bank and Mutual Trust Bank organised the event at ‘Village Supermarket (VSM)’ in the districts where nearly 700 people took part.

Besides,  the organisation for the first time arranged an e-health service for farmers. Bank Alfalah has teamed up with NeoSTAR Innovation to promote the e-health service across the country. Selected people could consult a doctor through videoconference.  Doctor in Dhaka issued e-prescription and the patients were provided with free medicine.

The 'Krishi Utshab' has become a unique event for farmers as they were apprised of modern agro-technologies and health issues such as communicable and non-communicable diseases which will ultimately improve quality of farmers' life.

Bio-technology also got importance in the 'Krishi Utshab'. Bio-fertilizer, bio-pesticides and health hygiene were also stressed as people are now more aware about safe food production.

In his speech, Edward Apurba Singha, Chief Executive Officer of NeoSTAR Innovation, said, "We will also continue our efforts to introduce more technological solutions for bringing a larger number of peasantry under e-health service. It is evident that conventional healthcare system has many limitations to address the emerging health challenges.  Undoubtedly, technological intervention can open up new avenue for farmers to deal with their health problems.

NeoSTAR Innovation is planning to turn ‘Krishi Utshab’ the largest agriculture-focused event and expand it to eight divisions in the country gradually, he added.
