An SSC examinee drowned in a pond at Boyra Police Lines area in Khulna city on Thursday morning.
The deceased was identified as Sajid Arefin Siddiqi, 15, son of Selim Reza Siddiqi, and he appeared in this year's SSC examination from Khulna Public School and College.
Quoting witnesses, police said Sajid went to the pond along with his father to learn how to swim. At one stage Sajid drowned in the pond while trying to swim.
Hearing screams of his father, locals rushed in and rescued Sajid from the pond.
Later, Sajid was taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead, reports UNB.
