BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has alleged that the country's trial system has been turned into a mockery through interference and politicisation.

Asserting that she will not bow down, the former prime minister said that she remained doubtful about getting justice on Thursday.

Talking about the case, Khaleda said, “It is a false case and a tool to harass me and my family.”

Referring to the upcoming court verdict in a graft case, she said, "As the judiciary is not independent, I'm doubtful about getting justice. I'm telling you [people] that Khaleda Zia was not involved in any corruption or crime."

She came up with the remarks at a press conference at her Gulshan office Wednesday afternoon ahead of a case verdict, reports UNB.

A Dhaka court (The Special Court-5) will deliver its verdict the next day in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case filed against Khaleda and five others.

The BNP chief said, "There is no justice, no insaf in the country. People have no security here. The trial process has been turned into a mockery through interference and politicisation. People want to get rid of the situation. They are looking at BNP."

She continued, "I'm ready to face any circumstances. It's useless to threaten me with jail term. I won't bow down and turn back from the struggle aimed at establishing people's rights. They [govt] want to keep me away from politics using the court. But, I think, they won't be able to score in the empty field this time like in 2014."

Khaleda, however, also expressed her belief that the court will acquit her of all charges.

Bdnews24 says she and five others, including her son Tarique Rahman, stand accused of embezzling Tk 21 million in foreign donation meant for the Trust in the case.
