KCC aspirants passing busy time in electioneering

Election fever has gripped Khulna metropolis as both the mayoral and councillor contenders are passing time in campaign to win the race.

Centring the Khulna City Corporation (KCC) polls, electioneering is gaining momentum day by day with contestants various programmes to attract voters.

People from all ages particularly the young are bringing out processions in favour of their respective mayoral and councillor candidates.

Meanwhile, Awami League-backed candidate Talukder Abdul Khaleque today conducted campaign at Bangladesh Bank, Collectorate Building, district administration, Khulna Registry Office, Khulna Lawyers Association and adjacent areas.

During the campaign he pledged that he would make the Khulna city free from extortion, illegal drugs, tender manipulation and women violence if he is elected in the election.

Requesting voters to vote for boat symbol, Khaleque said he will build an environment friendly, green and clean city if he gets another chance as the mayor, reports BSS.

On the other hand, BNP backed mayoral aspirant Nazrul Islam Manju conducted campaign in city's different areas. The leaders of 20 party-alliance were present during the campaign.

Earlier, at a press conference BNP mayoral aspirant Nazrul Islam Manzu reiterate his demand for deploying army in the upcoming KCC poll.

Member of the National Standing Committee of BNP and chief coordinator of central Election committee of BNP for the KCC Poll Gaweyeswar Roy claimed like Gazipur the government is trying to postpone GCC election.

Meanwhile, Awami League led 14-party alliance at a press conference demanded BNP's complain is a bluff game as they know their candidate Manju will defeate in the KCC poll.

14-party alliance leaders Sharif Nurul Ambia, Khaled Hossain, Rafiqul Haque and chief coordinator of AL backed mayor candidate Khaleque.

On the other hand, 'Shaechoton Sangbadik Samaj, comprising members of Khulna Press Club, Khulna Union of Journalists (KUJ) and Regional Newspapers Association, conducted campaign in Daulatpur thana area today for mayor candidate Khaleque.
