Dengue Outbreak: JU students bring out silent procession

Jahangirnagar University (JU) students brought out a silent procession on the JU campus on Saturday, demanding steps for preventing dengue.

On Sunday morning, students gathered at the Central Shaheed Minar premises on the campus at 11:00am and brought out the procession which ended up with a sit-in programme in front of the administrative building.

A first year student of the university died of dengue fever at Cox’s Bazar on Saturday after she returned home from the campus.

At the programme, students, angered by the death of a fellow student, demanded necessary steps from the authority to prevent dengue.

They urged to equip JU’s medical center with necessary medical instruments.

They ended their sit-in programme after getting assurance of Vice Chancellor Professor Farzana Islam around 12:00pm.
