Veteran journalist Syed Mahmud was laid to his eternal rest at Azimpur graveyard in the city on Saturday.
A large number of journalists joined his namaz-e-janaja on National Press Club (JPC) premises after Zuhr prayers. Prime Minister's media affairs adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Dainik Samakal editor Golam Sarwar, columnist Syed Abul Maksud, JPC president Shafiqur Rahman and general secretary Farida Yasmin, journalist leaders Ruhul Amin Gazi and MA Aziz and Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) secretary general Omar Faruque paid rich tributes to Syed Mahmud, reports BSS.
Syed Mahmud, a former news editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), breathed his last at a city hospital on Friday at the age of 78.
