JCI Bangladesh has recognised ten youths of Bangladesh for their contribution to society through an event titled “Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) 2020” to inspire young leaders for their achievements.
Ten young people (under the age of 40) were recognised in different fields were awarded at the Le Meridien Hotel in Dhaka on Saturday.
A K Abdul Momen, MP, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, joined the event as Chief Guest online while Nahim Razzaq, MP graced the event as a special guest.
The different categories in which the awards were recognised were Business, Economic, and/or Entrepreneurial Accomplishment, Political, Legal, and/or Governmental Affairs, Academic Leadership and/or Accomplishment, Personal Improvement and/or Accomplishment, Medical Innovation, Cultural Achievement, and Humanitarian and/or Voluntary Leadership, etc.
The 2020 TOYP awardees are-- Sheikh Tonmoy, MP, Shams Mahmud, President of DCCI, Safwan, Sobhan, VP of Bashundhara Group, Siddikur Rahman, National Golfer, Akbar Ali, under 19 Cricket Captain, Singer Hridoy Khan, Ayman Sadiq from 10 Minute School, Tanvir Ahmed, MD of Sheltech, Social Activist Nobonita Chowdhury and Dr. Reazul Kabir from MBA Co-ordinator, IBA, University of Dhaka.
The awardee Sheikh Tonmoy, MP, said winning the award, he hoped that the awards would inspire other young people to work harder for their country.
Foreign Minister, A K Abdul Momen, MP, said, “Bangladesh is lucky to have a very young population and this government is always beside the youth”.
Among many previous awardees, Sakib Al Hassan, Tahsan were some of the notable awardees. The awardees were picked by a rigorous selection process made by the National and International JCI Officers, Civil Society Representatives, and JCI Advisors.
Every year, JCI Bangladesh takes the initiative to the contribution of youth in the society.
The JCI is a global organisation of young leaders aged 18-40 who are dedicated to creating the positive change they wish to see in themselves and the world. The community has more than 150,000 active members in 105 countries.
National President of JCI Bangladesh, Ms. Sarah Kamal said, “We will be developing leaders for a changing world and focus on sustaining and rebuilding economies, motivating the workforce, preserving mental health and cultivate a global leadership mentality among members, amplifying their existing skills and talents through high-quality events and training.”
