Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dall (JCD), Progressive Students' Alliance and Anti-Imperialist Students' Union have boycotted the elections to Dhaka University Central Students Union and its hall chapters amid massive allegations of irregularities, including ballot-box stuffing and occupation of voting centres.
Quota reformists and other panels followed them suit, local media reports say.
The boycotting panels also demanded that the authorities announce the election schedule again, the reports say.
No other panel but that of the Bangladesh Chhatra League is now in the race, the reports add.
Almost all student organisations except for the BCL had expressed concern over the fairness of the election, in that the ruling party’s student wing already has the control over all the halls at the university, demanding that the polling centres be set up at the academic buildings paving the way for the intimidation-free election.
