Jaishankar likely to visit Bangladesh next month

Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is likely to visit Bangladesh next month, Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen said on Monday.

 “He (Jaishabkar) may arrive on August 20 or 21 …. It will be a courtesy trip,” he said while interacting with a group of newsmen at his office at the foreign ministry, reports BSS.

Momen said his Indian counterpart Jaishankar has already accepted his invitation to visit Bangladesh and currently, Dhaka and New Delhi are working on finalizing the trip.

Recently, Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Syed Muazzem Ali called on the Indian foreign minister in New Delhi and conveyed the Bangladesh Foreign Minister’s invitation to visit here.

Last month, Momen invited Jaishankar when he held first meeting with his new Indian counterpart on the sidelines of the 5th Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

During the meeting, Jaishankar assured that he will visit Bangladesh at his convenient time.
