A student of Jahangirnagar University died after falling off the roof of a dormitory building in the university during the rain on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Amit Kumar Biswas, a student of the 2015-16 session of the Department of Botany, reports UNB.
Professor Dr Sohel Ahmed, provost of Shaheed Rafiq-Jabbar Hall, said Amit slipped off the roof of the five-storey Shaheed Rafiq-Jabbar Hall building while bathing in the rain around 2 pm.
Later, students rushed him to University medical centre and then to Enam Medical College and Hospital for better treatment.
However, Amit succumbed to his injuries at the hospital around 5 pm, said Prof Sohel.
He also said Amit suffered a cardiac arrest after hospitalisation and was later shifted to the ICU.
