Jabal-e-Noor pays Tk 1.0 million to road crash victims’ families

In response to a High Court order, the owner of Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan paid Tk 500,000 to each family of the two students who were killed in a road crash on the airport road in Dhaka city in late July this year.

His lawyer informed the HC bench of Justice JBM Hassan and Justice Khairul Alam about this in an affidavit.

The hearing over the issue is likely to be held after 2:00 pm today (Sunday).

Earlier on Thursday, the Supreme Court upheld a High Court order that directed the Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan owenr to pay Tk 0.5 million to each of the families, according to UNB news agency.

On July 29, two students – Rajib and Mim – were killed and nine of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College injured as thus ploughed into them on the road at Kurmitola in the capital.

A day after, amid countrywide protests against road crashes, the High Court asked the bus owner to pay the compensation and bear all expenses for the treatment of the injured students.
