IU suspends female student for ‘derogatory’ remarks about BCL

Islamic University (IU) authorities has suspended a female student from the university allegedly for making 'derogatory' remarks about Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on Facebook.

The suspended student is Mousumi Akter Mou, a final year student of Finance and Banking department of the university

IU acting Registrar SM Abdul Latif on Monday said that IU Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari issued the suspension order against Mou as she posted an abusive comment on Facebook about BCL.

A three-member probe body was also formed with IU Student Adviser Prof Rezwanul Islam as its head to look into the matter, he said.

According to UNB, the acting registrar said further action will be taken after getting the probe report.
