IOM official found dead in Cox’s Bazar hotel

Police recovered the body of an official of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) from a hotel in Cox’s Bazar district town on Thursday night.

The deceased was identified as Tauhidul Alam,32, son of Sirajul Islam, hailing from Potia upazila. He had been working as a senior program assistant of the UN agency.

Officer-in-Charge of Cox’s Bazar Model Police Station Md Farid Uddin Khondakar said they recovered the body from Hotel Holy Day at around 9:30pm. “Tauhidul might have died of stroke.”

Another IOM official Md Alamgir said the death of Tauhidul might not be natural, it’s mysterious, UNB reported.

The body has been sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
