Upazila Nirbahi Officer Wahida Khanam of Ghoraghat in Dinajpur - Collected

Wahida Khanam, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) of Ghoraghat, Dinajpur, who suffered serious injuries in an attack by miscreants, was airlifted from Rangpur to Dhaka by a Bangladesh Air Force MI-171SH helicopter on Thursday, reports UNB.

As her condition deteriorated sharply, Wahida was moved to Dhaka from Rangpur on an emergency basis, said an Inter Service Public Relegation (ISPR) media release.

She was admitted to the National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital, Dhaka for better treatment.

The UNO and her father were injured in the pre-dawn attack by miscreants at her residence.

Quoting locals, police said a group of miscreants broke into the UNO’s home around 2:30 am after ‘tying up the night guard’ on the Upazila Parishad premises.

They beat up UNO Wahida and her father, Omar Ali, with a hammer, leaving them unconscious.
