Information Ministry opens media centre for polls

The Information Ministry opened a media centre to disseminate the 11th national election-related information including its results at Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka city on Wednesday.

“The media centre at Sonargaon hotel will remain open for 24 hours till December 31 in three shifts where seven officials will work in each shift…Journalists can use the information disseminated by the media centre,” said Information Secretary Abdul Malek at a press conference held at the hotel.

He also said Bangladesh Television will live telecast election results provided by the Election Commission through two digital screens from the media centre, adding information will also be available over two helpline numbers for collecting the polls related data.

“These two numbers will be published tomorrow,” he added.

Moreover, the foreign embassies in Dhaka will also have access to the media centre so that they can contact for any information required.

Separate booths will also be set up at the airport to assist foreigners, reports BSS quoting Information ministry sources.

Besides, a total of nine officials will work in each shift of the ‘Rumor Identification Cell’.

Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque was present on the occasion.
