India’s cardiologist Devi Shetty coming to visit Quader

Renowned cardiologist of India Dr Devi Shetty is coming to Bangladesh to visit  Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, who has been admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) with heart complications since Sunday.

Dr Devi Shetty is flying to Kolkata from Bangaluru. After securing his visa there, he will leave for Dhaka on a chartered plane.

He is scheduled to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport after 12 noon.

A team of BSMMU has already gone to the airport to receive the renowned cardiologist, local media reports say.

At 11:00 am on Monday, Awami League joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif told reporters that the condition of Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, has improved.

But he will not be put off ventilator right now. Decision about this will be taken only after Dr Devi Shetty's assessesment about his health, he said.

As for Quader to be taken to Singapore, he said the medical board will decide about this, adding that BSMMU Vice Chancellor Professor Kanak Kanti Barua would brief the media about Quader's overall condition at 1:00 pm.

President Md Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury have visited the MP from Noakhali at the specialised hospital.
