Indian ship with relief materials for Rohingyas reaches Ctg

An Indian Naval ship carrying relief goods for the Rohingyas reached Chattogram on Tuesday.

The ship 'Airavat' sailed from Vishakhapatnam of India

The relief materials will be handed over at Chattogram Port at 9:00am on Wednesday.

In September 2017, the government of India had extended the first phase of humanitarian assistance comprising of 981 metric tonnes of relief supplies. The relief materials, including family packs of rice, pulses, sugar, salt, cooking oil, tea, ready-to-eat noodles, biscuits, mosquito nets, to meet the immediate requirements of around 300,000 displaced Rohingays living in Bangladesh.

This is a gift from the people of India to the people of Bangladesh, said the Indian High Commission in Dhaka on Tuesday.

It said India has always responded readily and swiftly to any crisis in Bangladesh in keeping with close ties of friendship between the two countries, reports UNB.
