An Indian citizen accused in a gold smuggling case died of cardiac arrest at Jashore Central Jail on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Sanzid Bharma, 48, son of Mahindar Bharma of New Delhi.
Jailer Abu Taleb of Jashore Central Jail said Sanzid has been suffering from heart disease.
"When Sanzid felt chest pain at around 2:00pm on Tuesday, the jail authorities decided to take him to Jashore General Hospital, but he died on the way to the hospital," said the jailer.
On December 2, 2017, Benapole Port Police sent Sanzid to the central jail in a gold smuggling case, reports UNB.
Indian authorities have been informed about his death, said the jailer.
