Increasing number of dengue patients get admitted in hospitals

Patients infected with dengue continued to get admitted in hospitals on Thursday like other days of the month.

July 2019 has already been put on the record of affecting with the mosquito-borne disease in the city and other parts of the country. 

According to a report of the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) sent to the media houses on Thursday afternoon, 547 patients were admitted to hospitals across the country in the past 24 hours. Out of these 547 patients, 11 were admitted to hospitals outside Dhaka city, it mentioned.

The total number of dengue patients in the country reached 7,112 till July 25, according to the DGHS report.

However, the actual number of dengue-affected people could be more than the DGHS claimed, observed by the doctors, victims and dengue fighting agencies.

Furthermore, a good number of dengue-affected patients were also found rushing to different city hospitals on the day. Hospital authorities and doctors were found busy dealing with the increasing number of dengue-affected people of different ages.

Of the hospitals, the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) alone admitted the highest 112 patients.
