Increased use of technology necessary for clients’ satisfaction: Nasrul

State minister for the Ministry of Power, Energy and Technology Nasrul Hamid has said increased use of technology is necessary to ensure transparency and accountability in power sector.

Rapid adaptation of technology is also necessary to ensure client’s satisfaction, he added.

Hamid was speaking at the online inaugural ceremony of smart pre-payment meter in Jashore under the jurisdiction area of West Zone Power Distribution Company Ltd, or WZPDCL, as the chief guest.

This is the first installation of pre-payment meter in Jashore.

Some 46,509 clients of the WZPDCL are expected to be the user of pre-payment meters out of its total 90,430 clients.

The pre-payment meter consumers will be able to consume electricity as per their budget and will get rebate of 1.0 per cent on net electricity bill.

Hamid asked the WZPDCL top officials to quicken the process of installing underground cable in Jashore.

Chaired by Deputy Commissioner Md Tomijul Islam Khan, the event was also addressed among others by State Minister for the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Swapon Bhattacharya and WZPDCL Managing Director Md Shafiq Uddin.

Separately, Power Division Secretary Dr Sultan Ahmed Tuesday handed over some 600 pieces N-95v masks, one set high flow nasal cannula to Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration Shaikh Yusuf Harun for use in government hospitals.

As part of social responsibility, the power division earlier handed over health and safety equipment to different hospitals across the country.
