Two people, including a teenager, committed suicide at Sadar Upazila in Sherpur and Boda upazila of Panchagarh on Friday night and Saturday.
In Sherpur, a housewife committed suicide after her husband announced to divorce her at Mobarakpur in Sadar Upazila on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Sujina Begum, 22, wife of Jahangir Alam of Mobarakpur in Sadar upazila.
Sub-inspector Md Mostafizur Rahman of Sadar Police Station said Sujina hanged herself with a ceiling fan around 8:00pm as her husband orally divorced her over mobile phone during a family feud.
The body was handed over to deceased’s family members after concluding the autopsy, the SI added.
In Panchagarh, school girl Sonia Aktar, 16, daughter of Aliar Rahman, also hanged herself in her room on Saturday morning.
The family members of the victim found the hanging body and informed police.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital for autopsy, said sub-inspector Hafiz Haidar of Boda Police Station, reports UNB.
