The government has warned the BNP of ‘stern actions’ if the party resorts to ‘violence’ over the graft case verdict of its Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

“Let me be very clear, the law enforcers will take any and every measure to safeguard the people,” Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said while briefing the media in Dhaka on Friday.

On Thursday, a Dhaka special judge’s court finished the trial involving embezzlement of Tk 21 million in foreign donation meant for Zia Orphanage Trust and kept its verdict pending for Feb 8.

Bdnews24 said a three-time prime minister, Khaleda faces up to life in prison if found guilty of the charges, which means she will be disqualified for running in the parliamentary polls.
