Home Minister warns action against patrons of drug dealers

Mentioning that a process is underway to prepare a list of the patrons of drug dealers, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Tuesday said action will be taken against them, too.

"Intelligence agencies are preparing a list of those involved in patronising drug traders and we'll take action against them. No one will be allowed to resort to drug trading. Those involved in drug peddling will be thrown into jail," he said.

The minister was addressing a function organised at Osmani Memorial Auditorium, marking the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, reports UNB.

The minister also urged teachers, imams, singers and parents to stand against drug abuse.

He said the Department of Narcotics Control will be recast soon to bring dynamism into its activities.

Asaduzzaman also hinted that the government will introduce a new provision in the existing law keeping harsher punishment for Yaba possession.
