Home minister assures job for Sohel’s family

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has assured a job for one of the family members of fire fighter Sohel Rana, who succumbed to injuries at a Singapore hospital on Monday.

"We will make sure that a capable member of Sohel's family gets a job in that he was their lone bread earner," he said while attending the first namaz-e-janaza of Sohel at the Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence Department (BFSCDD) headquarters in Dhaka city around 11:30am on Tuesday.

The assurance came after Sohe's family called on the prime minister to stand by them saying that he was the only person they could depend on for their livelihood.

While rescuing the people trapped in the FR Tower at the city's Banani during a deadly blaze that claimed 26 lives and injured many others on March 28, Sohel sustained severe injuries.

As his condition deteriorated, the government sent him to Singapore General Hospital for better treatment, where he breathed his last, local media reported.

The minister said Sohel was given all the treatment it was possible to give him.

Last reported, Sohel's body was being taken to his village home in Kishoreganj, where the second and last namaz-e-janaza will be held.
