There is no jam except for a slow pace of vehicles on the highways across the country ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, said road, transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader today.

He said this while talking to media persons after visiting the Mohakhali Bus Terminal in Dhaka city around 11:00am, according to reports.

"There were traffic jams on some highways yesterday but those were caused by rains, bad weather and cattle transportation, not road conditions." the minister said.

About homegoers' sufferings at the ferry terminals, Quader said strong river currents and heavy rains have been hampering ferry services causing sufferings to them.

Dhaka city alone witnesses an exodus of around five to six millions of people during Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha each, every year, according to a Dhaka Metropolitan Police estimate.
