Heavy rainfall to continue over country

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Friday predicted that heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur at places over Chattogram, Khulna, Rajshahi and Barishal divisions in the next 24 hours ending at 9 am Saturday.

Besides, light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, said a weather forecast of Met office issued 9 am today.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country although rainfall is likely to continue for the next 72 hours.

The country’s highest temperature on Thursday was recorded by 33.6 degree Celsius at Rangpur while the lowest temperature today was recorded by 24.6 degree Celsius in Sandwip and Cox’s Bazar.

The highest rainfall was recorded for last twenty-four hours till 6 am on Friday by 181 millimetres (mm) at Sandwip, followed by 143 mm at Sitakunda, reports BSS.

Significant rainfall also occurred in Chandpur, Hatiya, Cox’s Bazar, Kutubdia, Chuadanga, Khepupara and Teknaf.

The sun sets at 6:44 pm today and rises at 5:26 am tomorrow in the capital.
