Intermittent showers overnight turned into heavy rain on Monday morning, waterlogging streets in Dhaka and causing difficulty for commuters.

The rain grew in intensity around 6:30am. Flooding has been reported in Motijheel, Paltan, Shantinagar, Malibagh, Tejgaon, Karwan Bazar, Green Road, Indira Road, Sobhanbag, Dhanmondi Road 27, Old Dhaka, Adalatpara and Mirpur areas, reports bdnews24.

The water has caused traffic congestion on Mirpur Road, the road from Maghbazar to Mohakhali, DIT Road, and Pragati Sharani.

Commuting workers and students are having difficulty finding transport.

According to the Meteorological Department, seasonal winds are likely to give rise to light-to-medium showers and temporary gusty winds in most areas of Rangpur, Mymensingh, Barisal, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions on Monday.

Several areas in Khulna, Rajshahi, and Dhaka are also likely to be affected.

The Weather Office has also forecast heavy to extremely heavy rains in parts of the country.
