Heat wave may persist for two more days

The heat wave, which has swept many places in the country over the past few days, may persist, the Met Office said.

In its 24-hour forecast, the Office said hot weather might persist in Khulna, Rajshahi, Dhaka and parts of Chittagong.

The temperature was recorded at 36.2 degrees Celsius in Dhaka with 69 per cent humidity on Friday.

The country's highest temperature was recorded at 39.5 degree in Rajshahi on the day.

Contacted, meteorologist at the Met Office Sadequl Alam said it may take a few more days for the seasonal rain to come along.

"The hot weather might persist for the next couple of days until the start of rain," he said.

He said there is a possibility of two depressions in the Bay, of which one might turn into a cyclone later this month.

However, thunder shower with squally wind is ikely to occur in one or two places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions in the next 24 hours.

Weather might remain almost dry with partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country. Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
