HC orders display of Bangabandhu’s portrait at courtrooms

The portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman must be preserved and displayed at all courtrooms across the country in next two months, the High Court ordered today.

The bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahsan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader came up with the order upon a writ petition filed by Subir Nandi Das, a Supreme Court lawyer.

The court also issued a rule asking why inaction of the authorities concerned to preserve and display the portrait of Bangabandhu should not be declared illegal.

Secretaries to the ministries of law, housing and public works and finance and the Supreme Court registrar general and the High Court registrar have been asked to respond to the rule.
